Gayla Nobles serves as the Executive Director of Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center. In 1994, Gayla founded the Clayton Rape Crisis Center after recognizing the lack of services available to victims of sexual violence in the South Metro Atlanta area. Now known as Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center, Gayla has been instrumental in the expansion of programs and services offered by the organization. Over the past 20+ years, SCSAC-CAC has grown to cover 9 South Metro Atlanta counties through three office locations. Gayla has previously worked as Chief Financial Officer for The Nobles Realty Group, Victim Assistance Coordinator for the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office, and Senior Caseworker with Spalding County Department of Family and Children Services. In addition to holding a large number of certifications in the areas of advocacy, counseling, and management, Gayla earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and her Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University. Gayla has extensive experience counseling adult and child survivors of sexual assault, as well as working as an advocate in the community for victim’s rights.
Christie D. Wooten
Director of Programs
Christie D. Wooten serves as the Director of Programs and Services with Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center. In this role, Christie is responsible for the management of all services provided to victims of sexual assault and child maltreatment. Additionally, she is responsible for all education programming and community outreach. Since joining SCSAC-CAC in 2008, Christie has worked as a Crisis Responder, Victim Advocate, Community Outreach Coordinator, Prevention Educator, and has provided prevention education to school age children, college age students, and professionals on topics ranging from healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and how to respond to sexual violence and child maltreatment to local law enforcement and military personnel. Christie is a Certified Advanced Forensic Interviewer through ChildFirst™ Georgia. Christie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Human Services from Clayton State University and her Master of Science degree in Applied Developmental Psychology from Clayton State University and is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Director of Forensic Services
Kristen Lee serves as Director of Forensic Services and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team with Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center (SCSAC-CAC). In this role, Kristen is responsible for managing all Forensic Interviewing Services and Multidisciplinary Team activites. Prior to joining SCSAC-CAC, Kristen worked as a Victim Advocate for the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office; Family Support Specialist for Turning Point New Directions; and as a Child Protective Services Investigator with both the Henry County Department of family and Children Services and the Clayton County Department of Family and Children Services. Kristen is a Certified Forensic Interviewer through ChildFirst™ Georgia and is a Certified Extended Forensic Interviewer through the National Children’s Advocacy Center. Kristen earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Southeastern University.
Melissa Tinsley Cates
Director of Development
Melissa Tinsley Cates serves as Director of Development and Public Relations and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team with Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center (SCSAC-CAC). In this role, Melissa is responsible for managing all corporate and foundation relations, grants, public relations, fundraising activities, and marketing programs. Prior to joining SCSAC-CAC, Melissa worked as Vice President of Development and Public Relations with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta; Senior Account Manager with Nuance Marketing, LLC; Vice President, Private Advisory Group with Wachovia Bank; and Vice President, Premier Banking with Bank of America. A graduate of Leadership Henry County, Melissa is a dedicated volunteer and has served as Henry County Juvenile Court Citizen Review Panel Chairperson for over 10 years. Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of South Carolina, is in the process of earning her Certified Professional Fundraising Executive certification, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
